Nothing ever happens twice
It’s never “last Thursday”
Even if this Thursday feels “just like last Thursday”
We never take the same train to work
Or eat the same thing, for lunch
Earth, this moving spaceship
is never in the same place twice
we hurtle
ever forward
spinning
outwardly
somewhere over in that direction
our very lives great wheels of cheese on rolling metaphorical hillsides
(which actually sounds delicious)
Here we go –
But not “again”;
The loops we use as metronomes
seasons, moons, software updates
are patterns, yes
but non-repeating ones
for Time (dramatic pause)
is like Pi. (without the e)
(a bold statement which also sounds delicious)
So. Here we go.

It’s said that history repeats
but it just imitates.
We’re never back where we began
or washing the same plates.
We’re always in a brand new time
and in a different space.
We’re always New.
The calendar’s a backbeat,
we’re a solo
so here we go!

the world is not just math
though day
to day
to day
today seems like a well worn path
let’s celebrate the where we are
exhausted, yet ambitious
and heed the annual countdown
yet remember
life’s delicious.
